Mark Ryan, DVM

Practice Owner

Dr. Mark Ryan is a Grand Junction native and a Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine Graduate, Class of 1987 Graduate. He has been practicing veterinary medicine and surgery for 35 years. In his many years of practice, he has been a relief vet, an associate vet, a practice owner, and a veterinary consultant. He has worked with all kinds of animals. Large animals, small animals, exotics, avian, and wildlife. And he still loves his job. He very much appreciates, and supports, the bond between his clients, and their pets. He appreciates that he has helped develop a great veterinary medicine culture here at Monument View, that puts our pets first. He is very grateful for his incredible clients, their exceptional pets, his incredible staff, his incredible partners, and our culture. Dr. Ryan is, number one, an advocate for your pet. His focus is on what they need. 

He is blessed to be a part of a beautiful family. Wife, Karen. Two incredible kids, Emma (16) and Jack (15). Loving dogs, Ghillie (Black Labrador female), and Franchessca (Franchi or Frankie, an Italian Spinone). A demanding cat, Mao (a black short haired 15-year-old cat). And a Western Box Turtle, Sprocket.

Dr. Ryan enjoys camping with his family, skiing, and hiking up the mountains with his rifle and wading through rivers with his fly rod. Always, hopeful. Happy with the pursuit. Grateful for the opportunity.  Grateful to be practicing medicine. Involved in the local community. Kiwanis Club focuses on improving our world, one child and one community, at a time. MVVH supports the Kiwanis Alert Service Dog Program that takes care of the alert dogs that take care of Type I Diabetic children and epileptic children. He is a member of the Mesa County Animal Services Advisory Board. Chapter Representative (multiple counties of Western Colorado) of the Colorado Veterinary Medical Society. Member of the American Veterinary Medical Association



Justin Seely, DVM

Practice Owner

Dr. Justin Seely grew up in western Colorado on a large sheep and cattle ranch. Initially planning to go to medical school, he decided early in college his background and interests were better suited to veterinary medicine.  He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University in 1996.  After graduation he practiced equine medicine and surgery for 3 ½ years before making the switch to small animal medicine. Dr. Seely was involved in corporate veterinary practice for 20 years before teaming up with Dr. Mark Ryan and Miranda Schroeder CVT to start Monument View Veterinary Hospital. His practice interests are internal medicine and dentistry but enjoys all facets of small animal medicine and surgery. In his spare-time he enjoys waterskiing, mountain biking, hiking with his dogs and spending time with his family—wife Lynn and three children, Jacob, Jared and Kaelen. Dr. Seely’s four-footed family include one cat, “Gussie” and three dogs—a rat terrier named “Heidi”, a pit-bull mix named “Lola”, and the canine love of his life, “Paizley”, a Golden Retriever.


Miranda Schroeder, RVT

Practice Manager and Owner

Our Practice Manager Miranda has been in the veterinary industry since 2010. She graduated with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Veterinary Technology from Penn Foster College in 2014. Her passion for animals and helping people who love animals drew her to veterinary medicine after working in the construction industry as a heavy equipment operator. Being a part owner of Monument View Veterinary Hospital is literally a dream come true for Miranda. When she isn't working, Miranda enjoys spending time with her amazing and supportive husband. Together they enjoy traveling, scuba diving, snowmobiling, and spending time with their family and pets. Miranda’s furry family is made up of a Blue Heeler named Sydney, a French Bulldog named Squishy, a special needs French Bulldog named Shorty, and a Grulla Quarter Horse named Jewel.



Mindy Basham, DVM

Associate DVM

Dr. Mindy Basham is a Grand Junction native.  She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University in 2009.  She is happy to re-unite with the veterinarians at Monument View and be a part of a hospital that excels in offering a very high level of care in small animal general practice.  Her special interests include preventive care, internal medicine, and ultrasound.  Dr. Basham appreciates the human-animal bond and loves helping people and their pets.  In her spare-time she enjoys spending time with her family and her dogs, running, lifting weights, watching her kids play sports and enjoys the outdoors.



Sue Shivers, DVM

Relief Veterinarian

Dr. Sue Shivers joined MVVH in late 2021. Previously she owned Creature Comforts Veterinary Hospital in Iowa. She earned her DVM from Iowa State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. Dr. Shivers grew up in central Iowa and practiced for several years at a mixed-animal practice in upstate New York, a small animal clinic in Burlington, and an emergency clinic in the Quad Cities before moving back to Iowa, then to Utah. She is very active in her personal life and enjoys running, riding, and climbing. Dr. Shivers has completed two Ironman competitions with her most recent conquest of climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. She keeps up with her son, husband, two Golden Retrievers, lots of cats, horses and chickens.



Janet Gordon-Palm, DVM, CVCP

Integrative Medicine Veterinarian

Janet Gordon Palm, DVM, CVCP (KSU 81) is an Integrative Medicine veterinarian and Certified Veterinary Chiropractitioner. 
Along with her solo ambulatory business “Animobility Integrative Veterinary Services”, “Dr J” works with Monument View and other local veterinary clinics around the valley to share a holistic perspective that can enhance healing. She calls this unique position: “Specialized Integrative Care Coordinator”.
Integrative medicine involves blending holistic and conventional medicine in a team approach, with the inclusion of both animal, and caregiver input for optimal healing.
Discovering ways to activate the body’s inherent pharmacy inspired her to pursue non-invasive healing modalities such as Non-Thermal Laser Therapy, Neuronal and Musculoskeletal Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation, Cranial Sacral, and Functional Osteopathy Techniques.
Her practice includes multiple species.
Involved in Natural Horsemanship, she uses concepts of respecting body language in all species she works with, resulting in an enhanced veterinary experience which decreases fear, anxiety and stress for all involved.
She is Fear Free certified, and Western Colorado Director of The Paw Project, a non-profit organization that educates against declawing cats, and teaches about safe alternatives.
Dr Janet has a high “play drive” and enjoys horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, music and dancing. She is grateful to reside in Fruita, CO with her fellow adventure loving husband Ron.
Their “fur-family” includes rescue cats Puma and Tesla, and her Arabian gelding To’hi



Clark Martin, DVM

Associate DVM

Dr. Clark Martin was born in Erie, IN where he lived for about a week as his father was in the military and they moved frequently. He was a professional golfer for 4-5 years right out of high school and eventually worked as a roughneck in the oil fields for 6 years while in undergraduate school.
He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University and went on to work in Castle Rock, CO for a year. From there he went to Kalispell, MT for ten years until finally settling in Eckert, CO and opening his own practice. Best Friends Animal Hospital, has been open for 25 years.
Dr. Martin has one son and two grandchildren. He married his wife Leah in Florida in August 2020 during the height of the pandemic. For the last 35 years, he has also bred, raised and showed Golden Retrievers and currently lives with five.
After working relief shifts occasionally for the last few years, he decided to officially become a member of the MVVH team in 2024. You can find him here every weekend!


Misty , RVT

Hospital Leader

Misty has been in the veterinary field for over 20 years, the majority of them working alongside Dr. Seely taking care of pets and forming lasting bonds with their owners. 
She graduated Mesa State College with a Bachelor degree in Business Management and an Associates degree in Business Administration.

When not at work, Misty enjoys spending time helping at the family farm and being outdoors kayaking, camping, four wheeling, shooting, and sightseeing with her husband. She is a pitbull advocate and loves spending time with Squirrel, their adopted 11 year old pittie that loves to go everywhere and get belly rubs from everyone she meets.



Megan , RVT

Veterinary Team Leader

Megan has been in veterinary medicine for 10 years. She began her career at Animal Medical Clinic and is a well known, friendly face in Grand Junction. Loving animals all of her life she was drawn to work as a veterinary technician. In her home life she is a mother of 1 and passes her passion to her daughter, Amelia. At home Megan and Amelia have 4 dogs, 5 cats, 2 rats, a guinea pig and an aquarium. Being a Colorado native her joys include camping, fishing, boating, and dirt biking. Megan is a knowledgeable, caring, and fun addition to MVVH. 



Rose , RVT

Lead Veterinary Techician

Rose has been working in the veterinary field for 21 years starting her career in December of 2001. She joined MVVH in 2022. She has a strong bond and love for animals and is passionate about small animal surgery and dental procedures. She has made some of her favorite memories while working with animals. When she is not at work, she is a mother to three Lane, Shaelyn, and Jared. She has lots of animals including a Jack Russell, Cattle Dog, French Bulldog, 4 Dachshunds (her favorite breed), 2 Sphynx Cats, and a Nigerian Dwarf Goat. Some of her hobbies include mushroom hunting, camping, paddle boarding, watching her kids in sports, and looking for wildlife on the Grand Mesa. Rose is passionate, hard working, driven, and is a positive worker. We are excited to have her as part of our team.


Tiffany , RVT

Veterinary Technician

Her roots begin here in the captivating Grand Junction area. She's known from a young age that she wanted to work with animals and has been growing in the veterinary medical field for over 10 years. She has experience with a wide variety of animals, from delicate hamsters to the beefiest cattle. Her biggest joy is making a positive difference in the lives of not only the animals she correlates with, but also their pet-parents!

When away from the MVVH team, she spends an abundance of time enjoying the local scenery with her husband and their 2 dogs- Diego, a Chihuahua/ Pomeranian mix and Atlas an Pitbull/ Labrador mix. Tiffany and her husband recently welcomed their first child, a daughter, into their fun loving family. 


Kathy , CPhT

Client Liaison, Pharmacy Technician, Inventory Manager

Kathy comes to us with 26 years of experience in the Veterinary field at a 24-hour hospital in Littleton, Colorado. She worked as Kennel/boarding assistant, Veterinary assistant, Pharmacy Technician and Inventory Manager. She started her love of animals when she was very little, she always wanted to work with animals. She started house and pet sitting when she was 12 years old. Her entire life she wanted to be a veterinarian. She went to Metropolitan State College of Denver, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. After her time in college, she decided to lean more towards pharmaceuticals. She went through a Certified Pharmacy Technician Program and became a Certified Pharmacy Technician in 2006. Where she started being the Lead Pharmacy Technician and the inventory manager of her previous hospital. She came to us, after searching for a home in the Denver Metro and surrounding areas for years. They finally found a perfect home for them in a perfect location and moved up here at the end of October 2023. Kathy’s is married to her college sweetheart and has 2 wonderful children. During her off time, she enjoys taking care of her new home, doing arts and crafts with her kids, baking and decorating cakes and cookies. She loves spending time with her family, watching movies, playing board games, hanging out at different parks and attractions

 

                                                                                                                      


Brandi

Lead Client Care Coordinator

Brandi Veltri was born and raised in Salida, Colorado where she worked as a Funeral Director/Chief Deputy Coroner for over seven years until deciding it was time for a change. She, her husband Brent, their pug Ricky and two kitties moved to Grand Junction in October 2021.

As a Client Care Coordinator, this is her first pursuit in the vet med field, but she did manage the satellite location of Chaffee County’s humane society for several years. She has always loved animals ever since she was young and has a soft spot for feral cats and is passionate about TNR programs.

Her hobbies include going on adventures with her husband, reading, shopping, playing her Nintendo Switch (her favorite game is Animal Crossing) and hanging out with her sister who also happens to be her next-door neighbor. In her past time, she likes to explore local cemeteries. 



Jill

Client Care Coordinator

Jill is a Colorado native who grew up on a cattle ranch in the mountains of Saguache, Colorado. Growing up on a cattle ranch and having horses, dogs and cats, she had a passion for animals from a young age. She was also involved in 4-H for 10 years where she took market steers and her horse. She has won many awards for competing at the amateur and professional level in Barrel Racing.

She has worked in the Veterinary field for 5 years as a Customer Care Coordinator. She prides herself in making a positive difference in every pet we see at Monument View Veterinary Hospital.Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her 2 sons – Kadin (19) and Kolton (13). When not at the baseball field with Kolton, you can find Jill driving on the back roads in our beautiful mountains of Colorado, looking for wildlife. 

Jill has two rescue dogs, a kitty and a super awesome bearded dragon. 


Jennifer

Client Care Coordinator

Jennifer is a Colorado native who recently relocated to Grand Junction. She is passionate about helping people and their pets. Jennifer was a cook for 17+ years and was excited to enter the world of Veterinary Medicine when she joined the Monument View Veterinary Hospital family in 2022. She is currently a part of our outstanding team of Client Care Coordinators and is always excited to learn new things. During her off time, she enjoys taking her daughter Emily out to the movies. She also enjoys watching the Denver Broncos and playing board games with her friends. 



Justin

Treatment Team, Veterinary Student

Justin was born and raised in the Grand Valley and loves living on the Western Slope. A deep admiration for animals and science drove him to pursue a career as a veterinarian. Justin received a bachelor's degree in Animal and Veterinary Science from the University of Wyoming in May 2022 and began working for Monument View shortly after. He loves being a part of the Monument View team and is very grateful for the opportunity to learn so much from the incredible doctors here. He is very pleased to have been accepted to the veterinary school of his choice at Colorado State University and is currently a student there. When not hard at school or work, Justin has a passion for everything outdoors. You can find him camping, hiking, backpacking and fly fishing all the while enjoying the beautiful landscapes and wildlife of Colorado.



Megan

Treatment Team

Megan joined the Monument View Veterinary team in August 2022. She is a Veterinary Assistant, but has dreams of becoming a veterinarian, and is working towards that goal. Her deep love and passion for animals and desire to help people has drawn her veterinary medicine. She has known she’s wanted to be a vet from a very young age and she is planning on studying abroad in Europe after she graduates high school.

      At home, Megan has a pure-bred Chihuahua named Bella and a cat named Teller. When she is not working, she enjoys her time outdoors hiking, shooting, swimming, horseback riding, and also spending time with her friends and family. She also draws, paints, and plays the guitar. Megan looks forward to learning and growing as much as possible at Monument View and coming back as a doctor in the future.


Rachael

Treatment Team

Rachael was born and raised in Texarkana, Texas, she came to MVVH in December of 2022 as a veterinary assistant. Rachael is in her senior year of college at CMU and is pursuing a bachelor's degree in general biology. In her free time Rachael enjoys fishing, socializing, and hiking with her miniature dachshund named “Ino.”

Before MVVH Rachael worked at a zoo/aquarium and found a love with working with exotic animals. She has always had a passion for animals and knew she wanted to make a difference when it came to animal care. She is very excited to have joined our team and looks forward to growing in the veterinary field. 



Autumn

Treatment Team, Veterinary Technician Student

Autumn was born in San Diego, CA, and has lived in Grand Junction, CO since 2011. She is currently in at Student at CMU Tech to become a Veterinary Technician, and will graduate in July of 2024. She plans on taking the national exam, the VTNE, in November of 2024. After she graduates, she wants continue her education and attend the University of Arizona or CSU to pursue her degree in Veterinary Medicine. For as long as she could remember, she’s wanted to work with animals and be a doctor. 
When she’s not in school or at work, she is hanging out and riding her horses, and loving on her other animals. Two geldings named Gunner and Willy, and her dogs named Remmie and Gracie.


Maryjane "MJ"

Treatment Team

Maryjane, or better known as MJ, recently moved back to the Western Slope from Nevada to build a future for her family. Growing up she’s always had a house full of many cats and dogs, and a few reptile's. She always had the love for animals but it grew more in 2019 when she was hired as a kennel technician/ veterinary assistant for a private practice in Las Vegas. Since then she’s loved the medicine and knowledge behind taking care and loving animals.
After a brief time spend at home being a stay at home mom, she’s back in the veterinary field and excited to be at MVVH. When she’s not at work she spends all her time with her tiny humans. For the small moments she not on "mom mode" her favorite things to do are reading, drawing, and playing video games.

 



Taylor

Treatment Team, CMU Tech Student

Taylor has worked in the field for 10 years and is currently working on her Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technician. Her plan is to be a Certified Technician by the end of 2024. Taylor moved to the Grand Valley from Las Vegas, NV in 2006 and while she may not be a native she is comfortable calling herself a local. Taylor used to compete in Hunter/Jumper Equestrian and played violin for many years and hopes to one day bring those back into her life. Music is a huge part of her life whether it's listening or playing. Taylor is to laugh and finds the macabre fascinating. Taylor also dabbles in dance, is an avid reader, and a self proclaimed nerd and cat lady. You will most likely find her at home reading or watching shows with her 4 cats, 2 dogs, rabbit, and long-term boyfriend. MVVH is grateful to have Taylor on the team!
